I did find a few service manuals, etc for it online (below) and I notice it has a drive belt of sorts. 5th generation DIGORA Optime unit continues the intraoral imaging revolution started by. Is this perhaps a common mechanical fault? Has anyone got any experience of these things?.

While my feeling is that its a mechanical fault, they tell me that the software has to be open in order to load a slide, which makes the supplier's reasoning plausible I guess. My customer feels they're being "fobbed off" by the supplier and have asked me to take a look at it. They spoke to the supplier who are now saying the fault is with the connection to the computer. They tell me it worked once after that but now it's back to the same fault.
